Here are some frequently asked questions:

Who is eligible for membership?
Any woman registered as a full-time student at a university where a Delta Gamma chapter is located is eligible for membership.

How do I become a member?
Delta Gamma recruits most new collegiate members during an organized process on college campuses called formal recruitment. Formal recruitment at Texas State is held early in the fall semester around the first days of school beginning. The exact dates for each year and process are determined by the collegiate Panhellenic organization of the Greek Affairs office. If a chapter has vacancies at any time during the year, Delta Gamma may recruit informally in a process called Continuous Open Bidding, or COB. This is a great opportunity to get to know members in a more casual manner and setting. It’s also a wonderful way for great women who perhaps transferred mid-semester or did not go through formal recruitment to join the Greek community. To learn if Delta Gamma is participating in COB, you can contact the local collegiate chapter or your Greek Affairs office.

Is there a minimum grade point average (GPA) required for Delta Gamma?
Delta Gamma chapters at each campus require that new members meet a minimum college grade point average to be eligible for membership. If college grades are not available, then a minimum high school grade point average must have been met.

Why Delta Gamma?
Consistent with our founders' thoughts over 147 years ago, our primary purpose is to create an environment for our members in which lasting friendships and our vows of sisterhood emanate across all aspects of our Fraternity. We encourage an atmosphere that will foster high ideals of friendship among college women, promote their educational and cultural interests, create in them a true sense of social responsibility and develop in them the best qualities of character. Every member is unique and yet they all join together in a single bond of friendship through Delta Gamma.

Who selects new members?
Only collegiate Delta Gamma members have the privilege of selecting new members. While the Fraternity has an established procedure to guide chapters in this process to ensure consistency, the members themselves make their own decisions. In Delta Gamma, we pride ourselves on being individuals. Through our diversity of personalities and interests, we are able to strengthen our bonds of sisterhood. Our members are looking for women who will bring the qualities that our members themselves hold near and dear such as:

- A lifelong commitment to Delta Gamma
- A desire for service to others
- Achieving academic potential
- Varied leadership positions, activities, and talents
- Strong moral character
- Desire to belong to an organization with high ideals and a strong sisterhood

Are Sponsor Forms required for Recruitment?
Yes, being endorsed by a member of Delta Gamma is required for Delta Gamma's new member process. A Delta Gamma Sponsor Form is the preferred form.

How do I obtain a Delta Gamma Sponsorship Form?
Sponsorship Forms can be obtained by asking family friends, teachers or counselors to write a sponsor form for you. You'd be surprised how many Delta Gammas you may know! The National Panhellenic Conference has alumnae Panhellenic groups organized throughout the U.S. and Canada. You can contact one of these organizations and they will assist you in obtaining sponsor forms for all 26-member NPC groups. In addition, any initiated Delta Gamma can sponsor a potential member for membership in Delta Gamma. Please send all sponsorship forms to our Director of Recruitment Records.

Who is considered a Delta Gamma legacy?
Granddaughters, daughters, sisters or the same step-relations of Delta Gammas are considered Delta Gamma legacies.
Delta Gamma is more than just a collegiate experience; it is a lifetime of commitment, support, and opportunity that you will cherish forever!
